Catamaran bonanza

Catamaran bonanza

Tuesday July 6 2010 Author: James Boyd Location: none selected

If ever there was a demonstration of why there should be a catamaran in the Olympic Games – this week 159 F18s are in France competing at their Worlds Championship (almost the same size as last year’s Laser Worlds). Last week 100 of the more rarified A-Class catamarans took part in theirs Worlds in Italy. Both events were oversubscribed, requiring qualifiers to be sailed. Both fleets are mostly unsponsored and of course the gear isn’t supplied... Anyway today Australian sailmaker Glenn Ashby tells of how he scored his seventh World Championship win in the A-Class.
