Christmas at sea
Christmas at sea
Wishing all readers of thedailysail a Merry Christmas and illustrious New Year. No rest for the wicked – Boxing Day will of course see the start of the Rolex Sydney Hobart where the complex forecast is slightly favouring the mid-fleet. Meanwhile spare a thought for the unprecedented number of our fold who are at sea for Christmas. Loick Peyron and the crew of Banque Populaire have got past Cape Horn, but have an ominous-looking park-up ahead of them on Tuesday. Having entered the Indian Ocean's piracy danger zone, the Volvo boats have been tackling the Doldrums with Camper pulling into the lead. Team Sanya looks set not to rejoin the race until the fleet returns to the mystery stopover port on leg three in January. The Global Ocean Race leaders are moving again in the Tasman Sea. The Soto 40s are to race a European circuit in 2012.
