Miranda Merron on the GOR: Ghosting along

The Doldrums have certainly lived up to their name for Campagne de France. Vast windless areas and enormous cumulomonsters. The one thing that we haven't had so far (and am not complaining) is violent gusts with the squalls. One moment there is an inocuous-looking small cumulus cloud and ten minutes later it has grown into a towering beast, and generally heading in our direction. Yesterday we saw a waterspout. Last night at sunset we were hemmed in on all sides by highly active clouds, and we were not disappointed with the show - lightning, massive wind shifts and torrential rain. Always more fun at night! And it's quite warm, as everyone keeps saying. Chocolate can only be eaten with the use of a spoon, at night, but luckily the packaging is well adapted.

We still haven't escaped the Doldrums, and there are some spectacular cumulomonsters growing around us, but we have at least had some wind today, and not a moment too soon.
