Congratulations to Paul Larsen and the Vestas SailRocket team

Monday November 19 2012 Author: James Boyd Location: none selected

After 10 years of trying, Paul Larsen and his Vestas SailRocket have succeeded in breaking the Sailing World Speed Record and have done so in emphatic style – the new record they set on Friday stands at a whopping 59.23 knots (subject to ratification) and Larsen tells us there is more to come. This morning Banque Populaire has just entered the Doldrums in the Vendee Globe. Meanwhile Jeremie Beyou on Maitre Coq is attempting to fix a broken keel ram. On Sydney Harbour, the 18ft skiffs faced 25 knot winds yesterday. The US team selection trials are underway for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup.
