The Volvo Ocean Race boats are sailing at breakneck speeds, broad reaching in 35 knots this morning with Groupama slowly gaining on Telefonica in what promises to be another tight finish tomorrow. The Audi Sardinia Cup was blown off yesterday thanks to Mistral conditions. Sail making guru Simon Fry gives us a guided tour of Audi Azzura, the only new TP52 built this season. The Mistral also served up a lively start to the Giraglia Rolex Cup where Esimit Europa 2 stands a good chance of setting a new course record. The IRC Nationals fire up in the UK this weekend. So the IMOCA 60 class has issues? 19-20 boats are expected to be on the start line of the next Vendee Globe.
