Today marks a fantastic milestone and the start of a new partnership with the world’s leading manufacture of rugged mobile devices and accessories. With products sold in over 60 countries, Bullitt Group designs, manufactures and sells consumer electronic devices in partnership with some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Caterpillar.

Tough, rugged and waterproof, the Cat® Phone is the perfect product to launch our new offshore racing team with its unmistakable Cat® yellow hull and “Built for it” slogan. The boat, the team, the campaign are definitely Built for it!

The first testing ground is arguably one of the toughest offshore races in the world. The Sevenstar Round Britain Race, and 1,800 mile non-stop circumnavigation of the British Isles with its complex tides, exposed headlands and remote islands. The race is our first chance to line up against other Class 40’s and give the boat a good shake down before the single-handed Route du Rhum later this year.

I’ve got a great team to race with who have all made their mark in offshore racing and know how to get the most out of Mike Gascoyne’s RC3, the former “Caterham Challenge” The boat is certainly one of the best prepared Class 40’s on the circuit after Mike and Brian Thompson commissioned the boat for last year’s TJV.

The Route du Rhum is unfinished business for me personally; it was my first single-handed event that I entered in 2002, the same year that one of the most powerful Atlantic storms decimated the fleet within the first week. I was sailing an Open 40, called Hellomoto which took a battering in the Bay of Biscay with winds up to 45knots. I retired to Brest under jury rig, after loosing my mast in the tough conditions.

Having experienced the start of the Route du Rhum, I’ve always vowed that I would return to St. Malo to again take on this incredible race. I’m thrilled that today we can announce our participation in the 10th edition of the race and a huge thank you to Catphones, the Bullitt team, Mike Gascoyne, Dave Summers , Hugh Fletcher and my Sport Environment team for reaching this incredible milestone.

Bring it on!
