The Extreme Sailing Series got off to a dramatic start with the local Aberdeen-backed boat hull flying into Groupama’s rig on Saturday and Alinghi scoring a run-away win on Sunday. Gotta Love It 7 claimed the New South Wales 18ft Skiff Championship, the warm-up to the all-important JJ Giltinan Championship which starts on Saturday. In this 11 international teams will be taking on 21 crew from Australia. Guido Belgiorno-Nettis’ Transfusion pulled off its fifth title at the Aussie Farr 40 Nationals. 470 silver medallist Luke Patience has a new crew following the retirement of Joe Glanfield. International match racing is to return to the UK in June with the Royal Southern Match Cup.
