The 33rd Annual Pompey Perisher open event at Portsmouth SC is this weekend, Sunday 20 January, but the closing date for entries is Friday 18 January - so get your entry in quick,

Don Metcalf, the founder of the Pompey Perisher way back in 1970, and an organiser of every one since, passed away on 26 June 2001. Portsmouth SC have therefore decided to make the 2002 race a memorial to him, supporting his favoured charity, the RNLI.

Due to the special nature of the 2002 race, it has been decided to offer a fallback date of Sunday 3 February, to be used if the primary date is lost due to inclement weather.

Entry is limited to 100 boats, conventional and asymmetric, centreboard, monohull dinghies only, with a PN below 1200. Multihulls will not be eligible to enter this year due to declining numbers in previous years.

Entry form available at http://www.portsmouthsc.co.uk/

Pompey Perisher is not part of the Typhoon Winter Classics circuit but remember that there are still two events remaining and the next will be the Weston Warmer at Weston SC on the 2 and 3 February. More Typhoon International goodies up for grabs and valuable points for the overall series - final event is the Hoo Freezer on the 9 and 10 February.

Remember entry to the Typhoon Winter Classics circuit is FREE and you can claim a special woolly hat if you sail in three of the events.
