Hold onto your hats
All the RS classes will be there with nearly seventy RS200s, over fifty RS400s, over forty RS800s and over thirty RS700s. More than 25% of the total UK RS Class Association membership have entered.
RS fleets are known to enjoy their sailing and a good party. This weekend will not be for the faint hearted! Saturday afternoon will see all the boats line up on one massive start line, with a helicopter overhead to record the scene. Right from the outset the regatta has been billed as having an emphasis on fun with a variety of types of racing and a couple of massive (even by RS standards) après sail bashes.
Entries for the racing have now closed, but anyone is welcome to come down to Hayling to watch the action and join in the parties. Sunday evening will include many invited guests from RS’s short history, including designers, builders, key equipment suppliers and past Association chairmen. There will be awards, speeches and RYA Chief Exec Rod Carr tops the line up of speakers.
The regatta runs from Sat 1st to Monday 3rd May, hosted by Hayling Island SC and will be one to remember.
