Wind died at Tornado Europeans in Sweden

Race five at the Tornado European Championship in Vastervik, Sweden was cancelled today when for a period of 15 minutes the wind dropped below 3 knots.

The start had initially been postponed by 30 minutes due to light wind, but finally got off in 8 knots. After a general recall the fleet got away but on the second beat the wind died off below the minimum required in the Sailing Instructions. The Race Committee are getting behind with this regatta - Thursday was supposed to have been a spare day and races 5 and 6 we originally scheduled to run on Wednesday.

At present Darren Bundock and Aaron Worrall are leading the Open regatta while the Spanish duo of Fernando Echavarri and Anton Paz are ahead in the European Championship from the French team of Morvan/Vandame. Team GBR's best prospects are in 16th place Rob Wilson and Mark Bulkeley although they and Mitch Booth and Herbert Dercksen will rise through the ranks once the discards kick in after race six.
