60th year sponsor
Craftinsure will be providing event and overall prizes for this year’s series which kicks off on 20-21 May with a weekend of racing on the Thames in London. The series then visits three more venues around the UK before concluding with the Craftinsure Firefly Inland Championships at Rutland in November.
Firefly Class Chairman, Will Mason, said “It’s great that Craftinsure are sponsoring our principal travellers series in this, the 60th Anniversary year of the Firefly Class. The craftinsure Vines Trophy will help us promote top class Firefly sailing around the UK. Last year the series went down to the wire, with four boats able to win before the last Open meeting. Hopefully this year the competition will be even closer.”
Jenny Cage of Craftinsure, owner of two Fireflies, commented “My family race an F18 every week, I also insure lots of Fireflies, so it’s great to be able to support the class in it’s 60th year, the age of my own Firefly”
With over 80 entries already in for this years National Championships to be held at Abersoch from the 5-11 August the Firefly Class is in great health and this new support from Craftinsure should get even more Fireflys on the water in 2006.
