Five in a row for Bundock and Ashby at the Tornado World Championship on Lake Garda

Wednesday September 2nd 2009, Author: Patricia Kirschner, Location: United Kingdom
Day three of the Tornado World Championship and the boats were all ready on the water for the scheduled 0800 early start. Unfortunately the wind conditions did not help and they were all sent back to wait for the southerly breeze to fill in.

The light conditions - 7-8 knots - eventually only allowed one very challenging race to be sailed. “Both sides of the course were working which was very unusual. Since we arrived here that is the first time the left was favouring as well”, explained Belgium's Carolijn Brouwer.

The Russians led the fleet throughout the first lap, but then the invincible Australian Darren Bundock and Glenn Ashby took the lead over and never looked back. The wind dropped through the race and most of the fleet just finished inside the time limit.

Another early start is scheduled for tomorrow as a good northerly wind is forecasted.
