RYA to hold 'Blind date' style free coaching competition at Sailboat and Windsurf show

Thursday January 17th 2002, Author: Rya, Location: United Kingdom
The organisers of this year's RYA Sailboat and Windsurf Show are looking for 'up for it' sailing and windsurfing coaches and contestants who would be prepared to take part in a Blind Date-style contest.

Two sessions of Blind Date, one for windsurfing and one for sailing will be held each day. In each session three show visitors will be competing for a coaching 'date'.

All potential coaches must do is come to the Show, which takes place at London's Alexandra Palace from 2-3 March, to select their "Blind Date" for a free day's coaching on the water. If this appeals contact Tracey Clarke at the RYA at

If you're interested in being a prospective contestant you must be 18 or over and must pre-register by emailling with personal details such as your name, address and contact phone number, your age and whether you sail or windsurf. The RYA would also like to know three interesting facts about you (!)

Entries must be received by the RYA before 1 February and the selection will be decided by a panel of RYA judges. The coaching day will take place at the nearest venue to the winning contestant, who can receive the coaching in their own boat or in a craft supplied.
