Three in a row for Germany

A report from the final day of the Soling Italian Championship

Sunday April 11th 2004, Author: Soling Class Association, Location: Italy
With a exciting final day sailed in a 20 knots sea breeze from 280°, the 2004 Italian Soling Championship (Spring Trophy) ended with the German team of Roman Koch / Maxl Koch / George Wossala taking the Italian Open title for the third consecutive year without the need to race the final day.

Domenico Carducci / Genna / Ferraro, of the hosting club Club Velico Castiglione, won the Italian title after an intense battle with Tognozzi / Buglielli / Carotti who finished only a point behind them.

This regatta was the Soling's season opener in Europe and also was the first one to be valid on the international Soling Ranking. The program continues with the Audi Cup on Lake Balaton in Hungary, an open regatta to all sailors.

Overall Argentinians continue to lead the ranking after their excellent performance at the Worlds held during the summer in Brazil.

Hungarian sailor George Wossala after winning the Italian Open crewing for Roman Koch is the best European Sailor ranked with only a 1.4 below the Argentinean team Disco sailed by Gustavo Warburg / Hernan Celedoni / Maximo Smith.
