Glyn Charles pursuit race
This year’s Glyn Charles Pursuit race is to take place on Monday, 26 May at Hayling Island Sailing Club, providing an opportunity for those who knew him to come, meet, sail with, and remember old friends.
Already the following prizes have been pledged:
Gill in association with BA Peters: Wetsuits and junior waterproofs to value of £1000
Sunsail: A holiday for two in the med (conditions apply)
Yachts and Yachting:6 months subscription, and sail simulator software
The Daily Sail: Two free subscriptions
… and the list is growing.
As usual, prizes will be distributed across the results and you don’t need to be on the podium to be a winner.
"All dinghy classes are welcome, small keelboats can usually be accommodated…. We have had everything from Optimists, Fairy Ducklings, to K6, SB3, and even a 1720 and some Ultra 30s….. Please let me know if you are planning to bring anything without a PY number and I will make one up!" says organiser Mark Rushall.
Anyone in a position to donate prizes, should contact Mark on tel: + 44 (0) 1243 375162 or email: email@example.com
Last year the race was won by Rob Wells and Ali Hall, in the Laser 5000 which Rob and Glyn sailed together in 1998 (see picture!).
All proceeds will be donated to the John Merricks Trust, a charity which Glyn actively supported.
First start will be around 10.30. To take part contact the HISC secretary on tel: 02392 463768
