RS700 prototype with Alex SouthernThe latest RS boat to be released, the RS700, an all-new single-hander with trapeze and asymmetric kite, has taken off since it was featured on madforsailing.com in August.

The prototype that we covered during testing at Hayling Island SC is now at the production stage and orders for twelve boats have been taken with first deliveries set for mid December.

As with the companies highly successful two-man, skiff style RS800, the aim has been to produce a fast, exciting boat that is easy to handle for the ordinary sailor who wants to experience the ultimate challenge in a reasonably priced boat. With an on the water price of £5995 RS expect that this new flyer will be one of the stars at the London Boat Show in January.

But it will not be alone, for the all new K6 mini keelboat will be joining it as an undoubted show stopper. This is the first move up the scale from their trend setting range of dinghies for RS and in a similar vain to their RS800 it will offer maximum performance for the club sailor. The mini Melges look alike adds a new dimension to small keelboat racing.

With a modern carbon rig and masthead asymmetric the intention is to race with a crew weight limit allowing either two or three crew. The simple keel hoist and low all up weight will allow easy menouverability on shore and increase the number of regattas that the keen owner is able to travel to.

After extensive testing of the prototype, new mouldings of the K6 are about to be delivered and matched with the latest rig and gear improvements. Madforsailing.com will be looking very closely at this new design to bring you the performance details as soon as it hits the water.
