Variety turn out for Lyme Regatta

61 visitors joined the 22 home boats for Lyme Regatta on the 9-10 August.

With the Phantoms and Contenders racing in their own series, Albacores and 505s dominated the championship fleet both fleets getting in early practice for forthcoming World and National championships to be hosted at Lyme.

No racing was possible on the Saturday and the fleet welcomed the return of the wind on Sunday after one race in the morning the fleet started the Championship of the day in a shaky force three with early leaders Herbert and Penfold in their Albacore and Napier and Bristow 505 both being OCS the early stages of the race were dominated by the 14 of Mark Waters and Will Broom until a costly swim cost them the race.

The 505s of Walters and Hunt and William and Edmonds then continued to battle for the lead with Walters eventually crossing the line first. Thanks to the large number of entries Lyme Regis Sailing club were able to present a cheque for £250 to the Regatta and Carnival committee to help local charities.

2nd 505 8694 Williams and Edmonds (PORTISHEAD)
3rd Laser 4000 4259 Tyler and Tyler (LRSC )
4th 505 8419 Turnbull and Lunn (BURTON )
5th 14 1494 Waters and Broom (LRSC).
