18 Supernovas attended the Cotswold Sailing Club Open Meeting on 14th September. Michael Fish had forecast a steady nor'easterly under a grey sky brightening later and got it right.

In the first race Edmundson won the first 3 laps of a well-set course with Flitcroft, Boneham, Mason and Hood interchanging behind him, but in the final lap he was beaten into 3rd place by Boneham (1st) and Flitcroft (2nd) with Hood 4th, Mason 5th and S.Hawley 6th.

After an excellent lunch many sailors discarded wet-suits in the hot sunshine and took to the water in a strengthening breeze. A new course added further interest. First to the windward mark was Mason who held his lead till the end of the opening lap. A battle in the shifts and gusts ensued for the first 6 places between S.Hawley, Flitcroft, Mason, Boneham, Everett and Edmundson who eventually crossed the finishing line in that order.

The final race, run back-to-back in glorious late-Summer sunshine in good wind but with big shifts and stronger gusts, made for exciting racing. Mason, first to the windward mark after another successful port-end full-speed start, was ahead on all laps until the finish which was close-fought to the very end. Flitcroft won by a whisker from Mason and Boneham with Brown, Edmundson and S.Hawley in close contention.

After welcome tea of scones and blackcurrent jam with fresh cream, Race Officer and ex-Supernova helm Gavin Young awarded prizes and announced overall results as follows:

1st Andy Flitcroft (Bolton SC)
2nd Neil Boneham (Bartley SC
3rd Mark Mason (West Oxfordshire SC)
4th Steve Hawley (Severn SC)
5th Paul Edmundson (Bolton SC)
6th Grant Brown (Severn SC)
