Right at the last minute, Kieler Woche has a new premium partner in Veolia Umweltservice GmbH - a subsidiary company of Veolia Environnement the world leader in environmental services. Veolia CEO Dr. Thorsten Grenz, a Kieler Woche fan and active sailor himself was already involved in Kieler Woche six years ago with a sponsoring partnership.

“As the world leader in environmental services we are fascinated by the thought of competitive sailing where strategic planning and perfect teamwork on the water come together,” said Grenz, who said his late commitment to the event was due to the improving economic situation (a year ago it wouldn't have been possible to take this step).

Veolia Umweltservice's parent company Veolia Environnement has operations on every continent provided customised solutions to meet the needs of municipal and industrial customers in four complementary segments: water, environmental services, energy services and passenger transportation. Their biggest sponsorship in sailing is that of French shorthanded offshore sailor Roland Jourdain.
