The 2010 Pro-Vela Mar Menor Moth Fest, will commence on 16 May and looks to be an exciting week of high performance coaching, competitive racing and a lot of après sailing fun.
The event will be based out of Pro Vela, unique sailing centre based upon the principles of providing the best coaching in the best location using the best equipment available, while the sailing will be taking place on the Mar Menor – a lagoon of over 700 square kilometres of warm water that’s is blessed with 315 days of annual sunshine, helping produce flat water conditions with reliable thermal winds.
The week will be broken down into three days of dry land and on water coaching sessions, from current Moth World Champion, Simon Payne. Two days of fun competition, where competitors will be able to test out their newly learned skills in long distance, slalom and pursuit racing, and finally two days of the official Moth Fest Regatta, with some fabulous prizes to be won from the regatta sponsors.
Alan Hillman, Event founder and host; “Having an international fleet of more than twenty Moth sailors at our base in CAR Infanta Cristina on the Mar Menor will be a fantastic experience for sailors and spectators alike. Warm, flat water, reliable thermal breezes and coaching from World Champion Simon Payne will create a unique and memorable sailing regatta that should see the event increase in popularity each year”.
