Racing returns to the Nothe

The 49er to hold their British Grand Prix immediately after Sail for Gold

49er racing is to return to the 'Nothe course', where the medal races were held during London 2012.

The 2013 British Grand Prix for the 49ers will take place on 14-16 June, aiming to re-enact the excitement of the Games. The event takes place immediately after Sail for Gold (which finishes on 13 June).

The schedule will see full fleet racing for both the 49er and 49erFXes on the Friday and these will define the seedings for the 'theatre style' racing on the Saturday and Sunday.

The 49er class will be filming the racing from onshore and for spectators there will be live commentary providing a blow by blow account of what is going on on the water. The event is being hosted by Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

The 49er have a limited field of 32 teams and will race using the following format:

This regatta will give sailors, jurors and the class a chance to practice a number of items related to 'theatre style' racing ahead of their European Championship.
