Mascalzone Latino challenge claims last location in America's Cup Village

Other syndicates will have to look elsewhere in Auckland for a base

The America’s Cup Village in Auckland is now full, according to a report from the New Zealand Herald. It is believed the last available slot was filled by an Italian syndicate put together by Mumm 30 and IMS world champion Vincenzo Onorato.
As with all of Onorato’s sailing ventures, he has called his challenge ‘Mascalzone Latino’ - Latin Rascal. The owner of the Moby Lines shipping company has launched his challenge from the Reale Yacht Club Savoia in Naples.

It is thought that the other syndicates taking space at the Cup Village consist of two teams from the United States, two from Italy, one Swiss team and defenders Team New Zealand. However, a British syndicate is also supposed to have a berth along with up to three other American teams.

But due to the fact that several syndicates have taken two sites, any further challenges will not able to be accommodated in the Cup Harbour, and the late-comers will have to find alternative base locations.
