It's coming, like it or not ...

The first mention of the 'C' word

Christmas - we've just got the first press release with a mention of the dreaded end of year festival. But let's face it, the supermarkets have already swept the barbecue stuff from the 'seasonal' section and replaced it with mountains of brightly coloured chocolates, crackers and decorations. However you cut it, summer's long gone.
So we might as well knuckle down to the reality and plan ahead. And those kind people at Helly Hansen have come up with a few present ideas from their range - but we forgive them, in the magazine world, they're probably putting Christmas issues together right now.

Top of Father Christmas' Helly Hansen list is the Tundra Beenie - complete with ear flaps to keep your lugholes warm. Then there's the Tundra Scarf, made of the same fleece material, with a neat slit close to one end so that the other end may be fed through and pulled tight for a snug fit around the neck.

This is one that's on my list, now I've finally given into the mobile phone disease - a Helly Mobile Phone Pocket. Made from a durable and water resistant polyester material, it can be attached to shoulder straps and bags. And if your original ideas for Dad stopped at the age of fourteen, and you're still buying him a sweater, then you could at least make it a Helly Hansen Wool Zip Sweater, a classic woollen windbreaker. A bit more modern is the thermal layer Pile Jacket, manufactured from windproof micro fleece with stretch fabric sidepanels for restricted movement and front pockets with zippers.

There I did it, and not one mention of Morecambe and Wise.
