Volvo RYA Zone Talent Squad

The first step in recognising and developing talent in the competitive dinghy classes

Saturday May 12th 2001, Author: Nigel Cherrie, Location: United Kingdom
The Notice of Race(s) for the Volvo RYA Zone Talent squad selection series are now available. The selection series and ultimately, places in the Volvo RYA Zone Talent Squads, represent the very first step in recognising and developing talent in the Optimist, Topper, Cadet and Mirror dinghies and Aloha, JOD, 103 and Open Longboard windsurfing classes.

Run by the RYA’s six High Performance Managers, the selection series in each region comprises three weekend events to include the Volvo RYA Zone Championships (over the weekend of 7/8 July), which is mandatory if sailors wish to be considered for their respective Volvo RYA Zone Talent Squad. Please contact RYA Scotland and RYA Northern Ireland for details of their events.

The Volvo RYA Zone Talent Squads offer a host of benefits to young sailors, including five weekends of coaching per season for each junior class and the opportunity to move through the squad system with expert on- and off-water support.
