The on-line entry facility for the Round the Island Race 2003 is now available. First to enlist was Around Alone race skipper Emma Richards, who got in touch from the other side of the world. Sailing the Open 60 Pindar on the fourth leg to Salvador in Brazil, Emma's message came 36 hours after leaving Tauranga, New Zealand, where she had just finished a stopover.

In last year's Round the Island Race, the crew of Pindar was joined by a television team from Channel 4's Faking It, while Emma helped Lucy Craig learn how to skipper a racing boat. They completed the 55 mile course in just over six and a half hours

This year's Round the Island Race takes place on 21st June. The event attracts in the region of 1,600 boats, giving over 12,000 sailors a challenging and enjoyable contest. Entries come from across a wide range of ability and experience, with smaller craft often winning the day.
