In distinct contrast to Thursday's conditions, the gale force winds forecast for yesterday arrived today, for the second day of racing at the Trophy Crudeli in Marseilles.

The strong conditions caused the start had to be delayed until 1555 and the two races were held in 30 knot north or north-west winds, the boats sailing under two reefs and staysails.

Once again it was Sill Plein Fruit who took control of the race from Jean-Pierre Dick's Virbac, followed by Bobst Group-Armor Lux, Joe Seeten's Arcelor and Dominique Wavre's Temenos. Conditions abated slightly for the second race which saw the dramatic explosion of Jean-Pierre Dick's spinnaker.

Rain is expected for the final day of racing tomorrow.

1. Sill Plein Fruit - Roland Jourdain
2. Virbac - Jean-Pierre Dick
3. Bobst Group-Armor Lux - Bernard Stamm
4. Temenos - Dominique Wavre
5. Arcelor - Joe Setten.
