Light winds and mist were replaced by grey skies and southwesterly breezes of between 10-15 knots for the final day of the Red Funnel Easter Challenge. Racing took place in the Central Solent starting from the area of Fastnet Insurance and finishing at Peel Bank. Despite the relatively moderate conditions, there were several retirements due to gear failure and shredded sails. Even more surprisingly, there were several collisions.

In Race 5 of the RM1 division, Too Steamy finished 1st in the provisional results which put them ahead of John Shepherd's Fair Do's V in the series at this point. I-Site took 2nd place and came out as the best Ker 11.3. Other winners included Robert Greenhalgh's Mumm 30 Panther AMG1 in IRM2. In IRC Zero Assuage held off Colm Barrington's Gloves Off, finishing 1st in class and elevating themselves to 1st place in the series after 5 races.

In IRC1, seven boats did not finish with Fastwave eventually coming in just ahead of last year's class winners Alvine XII. At this stage, Fandango remained in 1st place. The Army Sailing Association's Prima 38 Longbow were 3rd in class and were the best Prima OD. The X332, Exabyte finished in 1st place ahead of Alchemist and current leaders, Bump in the Night in IRC2. Software Mistress continued to hold onto 1st place in the series with their 5th consecutive win in IRC3.

Race 6 saw much more testing conditions with winds averaging around 20 knots with gusts up to 27 knots. Just to add to the fun, it was also raining heavily by this point . Lightning Reflex lost a crew member was lost overboard but fortunately for all concerned he was swiftly recovered. The Solent is not a warm place at this time of year.

In IRM1 Too Steamy went on to win their class overall in the series. I-Site took the final race, putting them in 2nd ove rall in the regatta. Terry & Sue Robinson managed to hold onto the overall lead in IRC Zero with Gloves Off one point behind them. In IRM2 Panther AMG2 was again first.

Fastwave won race 6 in IRC1, though 4th place for Fandango, was enough for her to take first place overall in this class. Software Mistress also won race 6 and first in class for IRC3.

Exabyte won race 6 in IRC2 today followed by Alchemist but it was Bump in the Night raced by Duncan Morris who won IRC2 overall.

After a successful three day regatta, the final prizegiving ceremony was held at the Island Sailing Club in Cowes where Lee Carter representing Red Funnel Ferries awarded prizes to overall winners in each class.
