Mistral sailor Bryony Shaw (19, Weymouth) has become the latest RYA Development Squad sailor to benefit from the sponsorship agreement (signed at the end of 2002) between Marlow Ropes Ltd and RYA Team GBR. The agreement entitles one Development Squad sailor each month (for the period of twelve months) to receive free ropes for a year and Marlow has also become the official rope supplier to RYA Team GBR.

Shaw has had a remarkable year, gradually improving her finishing positions at the Olympic class regatta's throughout the season, to peak in December at the Mistral World Championships held in Pattaya, Thailand, where she finished just outside the top ten in eleventh place.

Simon Pettit, Cordage Group Director at Marlow, invited Shaw to the Schroders London Boat Show on Monday 6 January to meet the team at Marlow and sign her contract on the Marlow stand.

RYA Olympic Manager Stephen Park explained at the presentation how delighted he was that Marlow had come onboard to support RYA Team GBR and also congratulated Shaw on making the transition from the RYA Development Squad to the RYA Performance Squad.

Shaw commented, "The fact that Marlow have taken an interest in supporting the Development Squad sailors really gives some of the younger sailors coming through the RYA system something to aim for. I am really happy to receive the support from Marlow and think it will help my campaign over the next year."
