Under its original schedule Prada were supposed to be packing their designer luggage and heading back to Italy on 9 March. Two of their ACC boats - the former Young Americas USA 53 and USA 58 - sails and equipment are currently being shipped back to Italy for the team to train on during the Mediterranean summer.

The shipping of the boats was going to leave a break of more than one month in their schedule but now some of the sailing team and shore crew have stayed on the continue their training on board Luna Rossa ITA 45 to make use of this time.

This change of plan enables the team to continue training and testing processes as well as technical evaluations and improving their weather analyses and gaining precious local knowledge of the racing area where the next Louis Vuitton Cup will be held.

Meanwhile the rest of the sailing and shore team is already back in Italy to follow the construction of the new Luna Rossa ITA 74 in the boatyard in Grosseto.
The whole team Prada will be back together in Italy from the beginning of May in order to start training at sea with Luna Rossa ITA 74, whose launch is scheduled in late spring.

While the above is the party line from Prada, there are many rumours flying around Auckland that they - along with Team New Zealand - have been testing out a new forward rudder configuration.
