Golding goes greenAfter years of being supported by the security company Group 4, Mike Golding has announced his new sponsor for the forthcoming EDS Atlantic Challenge.
ECover, is not an insurance company, but the Belgium-based manufacturer of eco-friendly washing products. The former Team Group 4 is now free of the black and orange graphics of Group and has been refitted following the Vendee Globe (see here for details) and fitted with a new set of Taffeta faced 3DL sails.
Golding has also announced his crew for the EDS Atlantic Challenge. They will include former Pindar girl Miranda Merron, BT Global Challenge leader Conrad Humphries, America's Cup and Figaro sailor Marcus Hutchinson, sailmaker and boat builder Nigel King, former shorecrew Alex Sizer and present shore crew Graeme Tourell and Joff Brown. However Golding has not said who will be sailing on which leg and while this line up is light on serious offshore racing experience compared to the other boats taking part, it is rumoured that some rock stars may be invited on board for some of the race's shorter legs.
"The EDS Atlantic Challenge will be my first time racing in a fully crewed formation on board the Open 60, so I wanted to encourage some talented British sailors to experience this extreme end of the sport. I look forward to seeing what the boat's really capable of and hopefully pushing out some record breaking performances," said Golding.
