New Douglas Gill dinghy gear
Soon to be in a shop near you
This is the time of year when the new ranges of sailing clothing are launched, and Douglas Gill should have their latest Dinghy System in the chandleries next month. This includes gear that was developed with the Olympic team for Sydney, using a new pattern layout. The design objective was to make sure that however much you raise and lower your arms - as you wrestle with sheets or spinnaker poles - the waistband shouldn't move to create a gap for the water to come in, or bunch up uncomfortably. It's also designed with a slimmer cut to reduce windage.
Gill have also continued to work on the Speed Skins that were originally developed for the Games in Savannah in 1996, the latest version having a Lycra face with a fleece back and a breathable, water-repellant membrane in the middle. Gill are also launching a spray top and a wetsuit, and have restyled their front-entry drysuit, to offer a more comprehensive range of specialist dinghy products. If you want to see the gear, it'll be in the chandleries soon - not to mention the madforsailing.com shop. Just a couple of weeks and a click away!
