Prada signs up British talent for America's Cup
Prada boasts an equally international line-up on the design front, with the team headed up by American Doug Peterson. From Britain are David Alan-Williams and Ian Howlett, the latter best known for his 12-metre designs for the British America's Cup campaigns of the 80s.
Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of the $50m syndicate, said, "Ours is a challenge of continuity. Since the end of the last America's Cup we have been working with the aim of improving certain areas and creating a team which will be able to sustain the work of the next two years. Starting in January we will be sailing again in New Zealand."
Commenting on the international flavour of the crew, Luna Rossa skipper Francesco de Angelis said, "We hired some non-Italian sailors since we have one year less to prepare than the last America's Cup. We thought this was the quickest way to improve the level of our team."
