Sports gear manufacturer gets naming rights

Grant Dalton and Lisa Charles' Nautor Challenge Volvo Ocean 60s are to be called Amer Sports One and Amer Sports Too. They are named after the campaign's main sponsor Amer Sports, who own companies such as tennis racket manufacturer Wilson, watch and compass manufacturer Suunto and Atomic winter sports equipment.
The naming of the boats came at the same time as Nautor Challenge announced UBS as a principal marketing partner of its syndicate for the Volvo Ocean Race. Swiss banker UBS has previously sponsored Pierre Fehlmann in the Volvo's predecessor, the Whitbread Round the World Race.

The Nautor Challenge yachts will be racing under the burgees of Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Italy and Nylandska Jaktklubben (NJK), Helsinki, Finland.

Nautor Challenge comes to the Volvo Ocean Race very late and still has to launch its second boat. The schedule looks like this:

Early July - Announcement of female crew
July - Opening of the training base in Sanxenxo, Spain
Mid-July - Launch of its Farr-designed Volvo Ocean 60
Late July - Christening ceremony of the new boats
August - Qualification sailing for both boats
Beginning of September - to Portsmouth
23 September - start of the Volvo Ocean Race

At some point Dalton will also have to decide whether he takes the Frers boat, or the Farr.
