Following a second in the Challenge Mondial Assistance and two excellent Grand Prix - third in Cap d'Agde and fourth in Cagliari on their 11-year old trimaran (ex- Fujicolor), the Belgacom Sailing Team, skippered by French sailor Jean-Luc Nélias, has proved to be one of the most powerful contenders on the Offshore Racing Multiull Assocation (ORMA) circuit.

The potential of the team is to go a step further in September when the new 60ft Belgacom trimaran is launched in Zeebrugge, Belgium just a few days prior to ORMA's Belgian Grand Prix.

Recently appointed President of the International Olympic Comittee, Belgian Jacques Rogge, a former Olympic sailor, has agreed to be patron of the new trimaran and will christen her when she is launched.

Following the Belgium Grand Prix, the new Belgacom will be competing in the two handed Transat Jacques Vabre sailed by Nélias and Vendée Globe winner Michel Desjoyeaux.
