New IRM 11.3m

But Jason Ker goes for a rather simpler rig ...

Ker Associates and Race1 are proposing a new IRM 11.3 metre one-design production racing boat. Ker had three IRM boats on the water this season, the 10.7m Roaring Meg and the 9.0m Shakermaker II and Quokka V. Unfortunately, one of their most notable features was probably the complex rigs, with an unnerving propensity for crashing down around the ears of the crew.
The designer, Jason Ker, seems to have learned from this experience and the new, bigger 11.3 will feature a vastly simplified 15/16th fractional mast; twin spreader, carbon, with no runners, non-overlapping headsails and masthead spinnakers. Race1 is the race training and charter company run by Jonny Falkner and Phil Crebbin, their involvement is to offer the owners individual schemes to manage the commercial use of the yachts.
