Prada concedes

Tactical defeat to Alinghi allows more development time for Italian team

In a strategic move, Italy's Prada Challenge has pulled out of the remaining matches left in its Louis Vuitton Cup Quarter Final match-up against the Alinghi Swiss Challenge.

Prada currently trails the Swiss team in the best of seven series 3-0.

By pulling out of its remaining matches, Prada concedes the series to Alinghi
who become the first challenger to advance to the Semi-Finals of the Louis
Vuitton Cup.

Alinghi now won't sail another race now before December 9th.

By losing the Quarter Final series, Prada must sail in the Quarter Final
repechage, starting on 23 November. Her opponent will be the winner of the match between Victory Challenge and Le Defi Areva, which at present looks strongly like it will be the Swedes.

With a weather forecast that may preclude racing on the next three days, Prada gains valuable development time by conceding a series it was very likely to lose. The 'no-change' period for both Prada and Alinghi ends immediately.
