The revitalised Half Ton Cup to be held in Belgium in August is gathering momentum with the announcement of the support of a third sponsor for the event.

The organisers, the Koninklijke Yacht Club Nieuwpoort say they have also updated their website where it is possible to charter boats for the occasion as well as to find crew.

Currently there are 17 confirmed entries, the latest being the French entry Bijou (a Starlight) from Boulogne, and Belgian entries Seawitch (a Scampi) and Little Imp (a Golden Shamrock). Many more are expected.

Meanwhile French half-tonners Brittany Drizzle and Sibelius showed their continuing form throughout the winter with a 1st and 3rd place overall respectively in the IRC 2 class at the Spring Series in La Trinité-sur-Mer. In the ‘small boat’-class IRC 1 Diablesse, a Golden Shamrock, secured 3rd place overall, after winning 5 of the 12 races.

The British Half Ton Cup entry Dick Dastardly currently holds 5th place in its class at the Warsash Spring Series.

Those interested in taking part should email Philippe Pilate (French) or Bert Janssen (Dutch, English).
