The penultimate day dominated by light winds saw drama abound at the Fáilte Ireland 1720 European Championship as Principal Race Officer David Lovegrove resorted to the Black Flag, instant disqualification rule to put order on the 50 boat fleet.

There were numerous casualties including Chris Law on Peugeot Motocycles who then found himself fifth overall after the final race of the day had to be abandoned due to the conditions. In total, there was 19 disqualifications over the two races.

Tomorrow's programme calls for two races to complete the series with intense pressure of the top places. Tim Powell on Hibernian continues to lead but Glen Bourke's Yachts & Yachting is within striking distance in second overall.

Third place is held by Andrew McLelland's Splash Test Dummies with defending champion Des Faherty now fourth overall thanks in part to a first place in race eight. A match race for the title is on the cards for tomorrow with the outcome impossible to predict.
