Cian leads at Rimini
30 matches and six flights were sailed on the first day and level pegging with Cian, now racing under the colours of the Riviera di Rimini sailing team is the Australian James Spithill, the former helmsman of One World, who lost to Cian when they came up against each other today.
The remaining three flights flights of round one will be completed tomorrow.
The top four will go through to the semi-final and the top two will compete in the finals on Saturday 7 June.
The start for Cian and his crew of Pierluigi Fornelli, Guido Antar Vigna and Francesco De Vita - all of them ex-Mascalzone Latino has has been startling: they won all the races of the first four flights, and were only beaten by former GBR Challenge helm Andy Green, when they were penalised for touching a buoy, despite leading for the whole match.
James Spithill is on great form, while match racing world champion Karol Jablonski lost twice in the five races he has sailed.
