With only four days to go until the Rolex Swan Cup 2004 commences, entries have risen to more than 100 boats. Not only will this 13th edition of the Rolex Swan Cup organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, see Swans from 17 nations competing, but it has also attracted some of sailing's greatest stars, proving the high calibre of Nautor's showcase event.

Swan owners and their friends will compete against some of the world's best sailors, including Paul Cayard, Ed Baird, Tommaso Chieffi, America's Cup legend Russell Coutts, Ellen McArthur, Volvo Ocean Race duo Neal and Lisa MacDonald and GBR Challenge team mates Adrian Stead, Ian Budgen and Ian Walker. Walker commented: "The Rolex Swan Cup is one of the biggest events on the sailing calendar and this will be the first time I have raced in it. I am looking forward to a week of challenging racing against some top class international sailors in the Nautor fleet."

In addition to the presence of over 100 of the finest sailing yachts in the world, the Rolex Swan Cup 2004 will witness the unveiling of the newest prestige vessel from Camper & Nicholsons, one of the companies of The Nautor Group. This is the new motor yacht, Endeavour 42, a luxury powerboat capable of 40 knots.

The largest number of Swans in the line-up comes from Italy (30), however United Kingdom (21), Germany (14), France (9), United States (7) and The Netherlands (6) are also well represented. The remaining competitors will be travelling from as far afield as Asia and Australia, which is testament to the Rolex Swan Cup's standing as one of the most highly regarded events on the international racing circuit.

The impressive list of entrants includes several Swans that have enjoyed wins in recent regattas. Clay Deutsch's Swan 68 Chippewa (BVI) fresh from a Class win at Skandia Cowes Week 2004, will be competing against Frank Mountain's new Swan 56 Zingala (GBR) and Frank Savage's consistently successful Swan 56 Lolita (USA). Taking up the role as queen of the fleet will be the Swan 112 Anemos (ITA), the largest Swan present.

Perhaps the most exciting presence at the Rolex Swan Cup will be the three newly launched Swan 601s, Nautor's latest performance models. Philippe Meyer's Carbon Arrow (FRA) will be competing against the British entries Paul Winkleman's Island Fling and Peter Ogden's Swan 601 Spirit of Jethou. In the other one design fleet, 20 highly competitive Swan 45s will battle for honours ahead of the first ever Swan 45 Gold Cup in October.

Competition will be tough, although the competitive spirit present on the water will be put aside during the numerous social events for which Nautor's Swan is renowned. The highlight of the week for Swan owners will be the ClubSwan dinner hosted by Pioneer Investments, followed by the Rolex Owners Dinner and Rolex Crew Party that will take place within the beautiful setting of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
