The Star sailor turned America's Cup helm on his first race aboard a Cup boat
Iain Percy, clad in the delightful electric orange cycling top that is the +39 crew gear, spoke to assembled British journalists yesterday in Valencia about his day at the helm of the fledgling Italian America's Cup team. The crew have only had six days of training before starting Act 2 of the America's Cup. Aside from Cup veterans Claudio Celon and Stefano Rizzi, the crew comprises a majority of Olympic sailors most from the Finn such as Percy, skipper Luca Devoti, Xavier Rohart, Rafael Trujillo and Irish Star sailor Max Treacy. In the following interview Percy discusses the problems he's encountered and the lessons he's learned on his steep learning curve. Listen to the audio file here .
