Hamble River Sailing Club has announced that Garmin (Europe) Ltd. is the new title sponsor for the 2005 Hamble Winter Series. As the market leading manufacturer of GPS and marine electronics products, Garmin is the perfect partner for Britain’s unique late season Solent based regatta series.

The Hamble Winter Series is the Grand Finale of the Solent Racing Calendar, an eight week long race series attracting the top race boats, yacht owners, and crews, both professional and amateur. Over 260 entries in 15 classes of One-Design, Sportsboat, and IRC Handicap divisions will contest for their own class prizes, and the Yacht and Sportboat of the Year’ awards.

“Garmin is very pleased to be supporting one of Europe’s greatest yacht racing events,” said Sean Biddlecombe, Garmin’s director of international marketing. “The Hamble Winter Series is a centre of excellence for top quality sailing, and matches Garmin’s mission to provide the finest navigational products for all our customers.”

As part of the sponsorship package, the ‘Yacht and Sportboat of the Year’ will each receive a leading edge Garmin chartplotter, either to further advance their 2006 campaigns, or complement the winners’ activities.

The Hamble Winter Series has an impressive track record - a growing event for yachts and sportsboats from 7-20 metres length. Top level inshore racing requires a dedicated team to achieve it, and the Hamble Winter Series leads the way in providing high calibre but user-friendly inshore sailboat racing for seasoned professionals and those new to the racing scene.
