The Raymarine Warsash Spring Series gets underway from Sunday 11 March and continues through until 22 April. The last two weekends will also include the Spring Championships for White Group classes. Following their successful introduction this year, ‘Big Boat’ Weekends will be held on 31 March-1 April and 21-22 April. These dates mean that competitors will be able to attend other regular regattas held over the Easter Bank Holiday period.
An extra start line and race area will be introduced in 2007. This will benefit the Laser SB3 and other White Group classes. This fleet has doubled in size over the past ten years.
A minimum ten boats can be considered for a separate class and extracted results from the IRC handicap section can be listed for classes with eight or more entries.
All competitors are assured of a warm welcome at Warsash Sailing Club’s riverside base near the entrance to the River Hamble, where breakfast and lunch is available on Sundays. Fast on-screen results can be viewed in the friendly bar where weekly class winners can collect their champagne prizes, courtesy of Raymarine.
Keeper prizes will be presented to series winners and podium places at the prizegiving on Friday 18 May, plus the superb Raymarine Trophy for outstanding achievement. In 2006 this was presented to Mike Fawcett, a regular racer in the Mustang 30 Hobby Horse, in recognition of his good sportsmanship and consistent support of the Series for many years.
