TP 52s at full tilt!

Big wave video action off Ibiza at the TP 52 regatta
After two relatively windless days at the Breitling MedCup TP 52 regatta in Ibiza, so the wind filled in on Wednesday night leaving a big seaway and 15 knots of wind that got up to 20 over the course of yesterday's coastal race around the off-lying island of Formentera. In this first clip we look at the start and the first weather mark rounding as Andrew Preece provides an insight introduction. (10MB file size) In this second clip we see the boats rounding the south side of Formentera and the first surfing sequences as the boats turned downhill going up to the west side of the island. (13MB file size) In this third clip all the boats including Russell Coutts and Paul Cayard's Lexus (which gained five places on this leg) are at full pace, surfing down the waves. (10MB file size) NB: These clips are formatted to play in Windows Media Player and are BIG - therefore only suitable for those with broadband connections. Mac users can now view WMV files by downloading a suitable add on to Quicktime - we for example use Flip4Mac which works a treat. The only noticable difference is that while the clip will play out while downloading on a PC, on a Mac it must download first.
