How many race officers does it take to run the Solent's premier early season event? A headcount check at Warsash Sailing Club gave a conservative total of 40 when the Club held a rehearsal for the Raymarine Warsash Spring Series which starts on Sunday 12th March. Only the 188 competitors entered so far were missing.

The series comprises six Sunday races on 12th, 19th and 26th March; 2nd, 9th and 23rd April. The best five results count. Starts are from around 10am in the mid-Solent. Black Group includes IRC divisions as well as one designs and bowsprit classes. This year a separate class for J109s has been introduced too. Two races are planned each day in the White Group for sportsboats, Laser SB3s, Hunter 707s, 1720s and J80s. In addition to the Spring Championships for sportsboats on 8/9 and 22/23 April, there is also a new 'Big Boat' event over the weekends of 1/2 and 22/23 April. Last minute entries are welcome and these can be made on-line via http://www.warsashsc.org.uk.

The Raymarine Warsash Spring Series is run by Warsash Sailing Club, Shore Road, Warsash, Southampton, SO31 9FS. Telephone/fax 01489 583575, email admin@warsashsc.org.uk.
