Cork Week 2010, to be staged over 10-16 July, will feature some interesting changes.

Recent alterations to the rules adopted by the Rolex Commodores' Cup have proved successful and it has been decided that certain elements of that event will be used for the bi-annual regatta staged by the Royal Cork Yacht Club, one month before the RORC event.

Cork Week 2010 will therefore allow Group 3 sailors to race in the relevant classes, but they will be restricted to the same Rolex Commodores' Cup Format of:

IRC TCF 1.120 – 1.230 2 Group Three sailors
!RC TCF 1.075 – 1.119 1 Group Three sailor
IRC TCF 1.025 – 1.074 1 Group Three sailor

Furthermore the strict RCC rules regarding helmsmen will apply with Corinthian sailors required to helm in the above classes.

Super Zero & Zero and One Design Classes, whose Class Rules do not limit professional sailors will be allowed as many Group 3 sailors as they like.

Anthony O’Leary, Chairman of Cork Week’s organising committee commented: “We feel it is time to make some changes which reflect the needs of owners and competitors that are attracted to Cork Week. We are also very much aware that many competitors found the last edition too expensive in many areas and the organizing committee will shortly be announcing some measures to address this concern. One thing that will never change at Cork Week is the warm welcome offered to all of the competitors, the committee are all working hard to produce a world class, international event for 2010.”
