East coast boat takes the top spot
The day started with a three lap windward-leeward, followed by a two lap one to allow the slower boats toi remain more with the rest of the pack. By 15.00 the British entry Per Elisa had marked two straight wins beating local boat General Tapioca and the Irish entry King One in the first race and British east coast entry Hullabaloo XV and the Belgians on board Waverider in the second race.
Just before starting the third race the wind picked up with a 15 knot westerly greeting the boats on the first beat towards the first mark of the short inshore. The tide had just turned as well, making this beat a very tricky one. No wonder that local boats General Tapioca and Waverider had a card to play here with both of them leading the fleet around the top mark, followed by a quick King One and Per Elisa. After a long run under spinnaker and a short upwind leg back to the shore, the Half Tonners arrived under spinnaker again at the finish line near the harbour entrance. Excelling in these windier conditions Waverider beat General Tapioca and King One in corrected time.
