Adam Gosling’s Corby 30 Yes! is one to watch closely at the Royal Lymington Challenge Cup when it starts in a fortnight. Yes! just won her Class in the IRC Nationals and will go head to head with the other seven yachts in her rating band when the 3-day event starts on 25th June. Premier Flair, Jim McGregor’s Elan 410 also promises to give her fellow competitors a run for their money. She has won a multitude of events in the past season.

Entries are all but confirmed for the regatta, which consists of two days of windward-leeward courses in Christchurch Bay and a ‘round the cans’ Solent race.

Eight three-boat teams are now signed up but it’s still not too late to enter. Teams are being accepted from any nationally affiliated yacht club or association and the three participating yachts will each fall into one of three IRC rating bands: Class 1: 1.026 - 1.080, Class 2: 1.001 - 1.025, Class 3: 0.955 - 1.000.

The Royal Lymington Yacht Club are not holding back with their defending team. Chris and Hannah Neve’s Beneteau 34.7 No Doubt, which also gained a podium result at IRC Nationals, along with Peter Scholfield’s 2008 Cowes Week winning HOD 35 Zarafa and X332 Brightwork will all be putting up a formidable defence following a hotly contested selection process.

The event is sponsored by Seatrack, the software package that provides a one-stop, integrated performance, tactical and navigation system for all types of yacht and powered craft.

Competitors will be benefitting from a lively social programme, no doubt taking advantage of the £1 a pint beer and complementary Wight Vodka cocktails on offer as well as barbecue parties.
