The Garmin Hamble Winter Series has been concluded with the prize-giving reception at the Hamble River Sailing Club on Saturday 6 December. Over 100 prize winners, supporters, and VIP guests watched the awards ceremony with overall prizes for each of the twelve racing classes being presented.

The event culminated with the presentation of the Garmin Yacht of the Year and the Garmin Sportsboat of the Year trophies, the winner of each of these two special prizes being decided by a formula that factors individual points performance, class competitiveness and fleet size. The challenge trophies were presented by Garmin (Europe) PR & Media Manager Anthony Chmarny, and Dawn Ramsay, Senior Sales Manager.

Garmin Yacht of the Year is the IRC Class One winner 'Quokka 7', a Corby 36 owned by Peter Rutter, and Garmin Sportsboat of the Year is 'Badger', Paul Lovejoy's class winning Laser SB3.

On behalf of Garmin (Europe) Anthony Chmarny also took the opportunity to announce their continued title sponsorship of the Hamble Winter Series in 2009, and this was greeted by rousing applause from all those present. On behalf of the organisers, Hamble River Sailing Club, Mike Dellar thanked Garmin and reminded those present that feedback from competitors was always welcome to help further improve this highly successful series.
