The Swedish Match Tour's Trofeo Challenge Roberto Trombini Match Race kicks off the fourth year of the world's premier professional sailing series tomorrow, July 10, when the 12 crews in attendance take to the water to contest the eighth running of the regatta.

Among those lining up in Ravenna are representatives from two America's Cup challengers. Prada Challenge's Gavin Brady will be representing local interests while junior helmsman James Spithill of Craig McCaw's OneWorld Challenge has traveled from Auckland with his crew to Ravenna.

Also competing are several names off the Swedish Match Tour 2001/2 final rankings list. Denmark's Jes Gram-Hansen and his Team Victory Lane, third place finishers on the overall leaderboard, begin their next campaign off an eighth place finish at last week's Swedish Match Cup. American Ed Baird and his Team Musto are also in attendance. Baird and crew finished fifth overall on Swedish Match Tour 2001/2 and are sailing extremely well right now as evidenced by their third place finish last week in Marstrand, while Denmark's Jesper Radich and his crew, seventh place overall finishers on Swedish Match Tour 2001/2, will be looking to improve their sixth place finish last week.

Also joining in on the action this week will be Great Britain's Chris Law and his Team Outlaw who have committed to a full-on campaign on Swedish Match Tour 2002/3. Poland's Karol Jablonski and his Team MK Café, who are organizing a Polish America's Cup challenge, Sweden's Bjorn Hansen and his Team Gol Sailing and fellow Swede Mikael Lindqvist all competed in Marstrand last week and will be using lessons learned in hopes of posting strong showings courtesy of the warm winds of the Adriatic.

Rounding out the list of skippers are Italians Matteo Simoncelli and Torben Grael and Denmark's Lars Nordbjerg.

Founded in memory of local sailor Roberto Trombini, a determined yachtsman and friend to the sport of sailing, the Trofeo Challenge Roberto Trombini Match Race entertains competitors and spectators alike each year with exciting racing from some of the world's top match racers and first-class hospitality.

This year, event sponsor San Pellegrino has turned it up a notch, hosting the guest hospitality area as well as the press center. A state-of-the-art trailer containing a full-kitchen and satellite television and telecommunications capabilities, will be the center of all the hospitality and media functions.

San Pellegrino is a long-time supporter of sailing with their involvement in the Trofeo Challenge RobertoTrombini Match Race serving as just one example of a worldwide commitment to the sport.
